The old adage ”fake it till you make it” doesn’t apply to us. We are genuinely confident in our abilities. We understand the value of hard work. We are not cocky or flashy, we are calm, centered, focused and determined. As Teddy Roosevelt said, “Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”
Hubris, the appearance of confidence, will not get you anywhere. It is weakness. This is not to say that being optimistic is bad, it is not. Don’t let naivete and hubris become the outward appearance of confidence. Believe in your abilities, but don’t brag about them. Actions speak louder than words. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Confidence is the possession of actual ability, arrogance is the outward appearance of such. You can fake it, but you most certainly will not make it.
